The Inclusive Tech Alliance, launched to improve diversity within the UK tech sector, has today announced Arm as its latest member. The Inclusive Tech Alliance has been set up in response to research by agency Inclusive Boards that shows the sector is significantly lagging behind others on diversity within senior leadership. The founder of the Inclusive Tech Alliance, Samuel Kasumu, who is also a member of the Prime Minister’s Race Disparity Advisory Board said:
“Technology is increasingly playing an important role in driving our economy and there is a great need to ensure that everyone can fully participate in the jobs and opportunities technology brings. Arm and other organisations are working to inspire the next generation and improve diversity within the sector.”
“Arm’s inclusive culture has helped fuel the innovation at the heart of the world’s largest computer ecosystem,” said Ben Murphy-Ryan, senior director, global talent acquisition at Arm. “Arm will only be successful in achieving our ambitious growth objectives by continuing to hire and retain people from different aspects of life. Our diversity efforts will be further enhanced by working together with organizations like the Inclusive Tech Alliance and enabling us to share best practices for inclusiveness across our entire ecosystem.”
The Alliance launched in November 2018. Over 100 firms gathered at the House of Commons, where the 100 most influential Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) leaders in the UK tech sector were also announced. Those featured in the top 100 included senior leaders from Facebook, LinkedIn, IBM, Twitter and financial services firm EY. The Inclusive Tech Alliance will be hosting a number of initiatives over the course of 2019, and Alliance members will be helping to drive change at policy and implementation level.
